Authenticity
The story behind the deck
I never thought I would build a library.
For a long time reading was one of the last things I wanted to do. I was a slow reader. I struggled to stay awake and finishing a book felt more like work than enjoyment.
Then I found myself in debt.
I needed to change but I did not have money to waste searching for answers. Reading was one of the few resources available to me for free. Through libraries, books, interviews and eventually podcasts I gained access to people I may never meet in person.
They became my mentors.
I did not agree with everything each person taught. I took the principles that resonated with me, tested them against my values and gradually assimilated them into my life.
Years later I can sit quietly and recognize their influence. One appears in the way I lead. Another in how I approach money. Another reminds me to trust the process, speak the vision or remain authentic.
Their wisdom no longer lives only in books and podcasts. Parts of it show up in me day after day.
